以前通っていた日本語学校では上級クラスを3回も続けて受講し、そろそろ他の学校でも探してみようかと悩んでいた頃、友達からJACS を紹介してもらいました。　
当時は、プライベートレッスンよりグループレッスンでの勉強を考えていたので、プレイベーとレッスンが主体のJACSにはあまり興味がありませんでした。　しかし、多くの日本語学校を調べてみても希望に合う学校がなかったので、とりあえずJACSを試してみようかと思ってトライアルレッスンの予約をしました。

18ヶ月間も日本語を勉強し、日本語能力試験一級も合格したのに、自分が言いたいことや意見がなかなか伝わらなくて、不満足でした。一般的に使われている教科書ではなく、雑誌や新聞などを使って、現実に起こった事柄を基にした会話中心の学習を望んでました。　JACS独自の教材は私の希望に合っており、先生の教え方も興味をひくような方法でした。

2006年5月末より通っていますが、JACSの面白い教材にとても満足しており、レッスンで習ったこともすぐに実用できています。　日常会話の練習以外にも、社会問題や難しい話題についても自信を持って自然に話せるようになりました。　当初はプライベートレッスンはつまらないのではと心配しましたが、週二回のレッスンはいつも楽しく、時間が過ぎるのが速く感じます。　東京での生活についても色々と話したり、アドバイスしていただいたりしているので、亀井先生と菅野先生とは教師というよりは友達のような関係にもなりました。

もっと早くJACSに来てれば良かったのにと思ったりもしますが、英語のことわざでいうと“It’s better late than never!!”　(遅くてもなにもやらないよりまし)というように、遅くなってしまったけどJACSで勉強をする決断をして本当に良かったと思います。お陰で日本語の勉強をすることと日本語が上達することが楽しいです。

I first heard of JACS through a classmate at my previous school. At that time I had repeated 3 times the advance class (Not because I failed each time, but there wasn’t any higher class for me to go) and was starting to think maybe it was about time for me to change school. To be honest, JACS didn’t come as a priority for I thought group lesson would be more fun than private lessons. But as I searched for schools around Tokyo and found nothing suits my interests and needs, I decided to give JACS a try and called up for trial lesson.

After a year and half of intensive Japanese courses (mostly concentrated on grammar, kanji, listening) and having passed the level 1 Japanese language proficiency test, I was searching for a non-intensive, more conversational, more up to date studying material such as magazines or news articles on Japanese society instead of studying with un-useful textbooks and still not being able to express myself precisely in Japanese. I was surprised by how JACS fits my needs and was very impressed by their original studying materials.

I have been studying at JACS since end of May 2006. I am glad I made the decision to come for I am satisfied with their teaching method. The issues that we talk about are recent topics that I see on news and I have become more confident in expressing my opinions in Japanese for what I’ve learned in class is very practical and useful. I thought private lessons would be quite boring, but my teachers, Kamei-san and Kanno-san, always make the lessons interesting, and they have become more than language teachers but friends, for I tell them a lot what’s happening with my life when I go for lessons.
Their friendliness made me wish I had come to JACS earlier instead of sitting in group lessons and sometimes feel that I am not improving as much as I should. But, as the idiom says: “It’s better late than never!!” Even I had been a little late, I think I really made a good decision not to give up Japanese lessons and come study here. Being able to speak higher level Japanese makes me happy and I look forward to more improvement with JACS.
